A Call
To Holiness |
Are
you called to the mission of
Lamp? |

Make
A Donation |
|
Although you may
not be able to visit a materially poor person or
family in a crowded shelter or walk-up apartment
in the New York City Metropolitan area, you can
help to make it possible for a LAMP Missionary
to do so. |

"You,
Lord, give light to my lamp; my God, You brighten the
darkness about me."
- Psalm 18:28 |
Welcome to the LAMP (Lay
Apostolic Ministries with the Poor)
Ministries Website. LAMP's main objective
is to work with those people who are
materially poor, focusing on
evangelization. It is a path to holiness for
those who embrace it. As you browse our
website, we hope that you will become
familiar with our ministry and the unique
pioneer mission it provides. We also hope
that you will pray for LAMP, contribute to
our outreaches, or consider joining us by
becoming a LAMP Missionary. Finally, we ask
that the Lord Jesus will bless you! - Tom & Lyn Scheuring, Ph.D.s Directors

Street Ministry: Taking the Gospel to
the Streets |
When our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, visited North America in January
1999, he exhorted all Catholics to "have the courage
to bear witness to the Gospel in the streets and
squares". The vision of LAMP, founded in and by the
love of Christ Jesus, impels LAMP Missionaries to
literally reach out to the poor and homeless on the streets; to
those who need to know the Lord has not forgotten
them, and that the local Catholic parish wants to be
of service to them. |

Ministry With Homeless Families |
|
In 1986, LAMP was
invited to serve in the infamous Manhattan
Martinique Hotel sheltering 500 broken, scared,
and crushed families. Our commitment to support
homeless families with faith in Jesus has never
waivered. |
