LAMP Mission Crucifix
LAMP Ministries is a Catholic lay missionary association, comprised of people who serve among the materially poor, with a focus on evangelization. LAMP’s call has drawn us into the beating Heart of Jesus as that Heart of Compassion embracing those most in need, with our Blessed Mother’s Heart united to His.

The Eucharist is central to LAMP's spirituality. The mission of the Church is a continuity of the mission of Christ and draws spiritual energy from communion with His Body and Blood.

Although you may not be able to visit a materially poor person or family in a crowded shelter or walk-up apartment in the New York City Metropolitan area, you can help to make it possible for a LAMP Missionary to do so.

LAMP Ministries Information and Mission Statement
  • LAMP Missionaries are serving at crisis pregnancy centers and homes for pregnant mothers and their children. They seek to support pregnant young women, most of them teenagers, who think they have no choice but to abort their babies. Through prayer, compassionate listening and loving dialogue, many of these mothers choose to give their babies life and keep them.

  • LAMPLIGHTERS, which is a club for children and teens, was founded one year after LAMP began. Its purpose is two-fold: to reinforce the Catholic faith of the young, and to help them develop love and compassion, the Good News of Jesus' own love, for the suffering poor. LAMPLIGHTERS gives young people the experience of living their faith and sharing with those in need in the context of mutual affirmation and having fun.

  • LAMP also founded and maintains an affiliation with an outreach in northern Appalachia, in the city of Steubenville, Ohio.

  • LAMP Missionaries participate in Eucharistic Adoration, Mass, sharing and Scripture reflection, when they gather together weekly for community support.

  • Room and board, medical insurance, and a monthly stipend of $200 are provided for each LAMP Missionary.
